New Mentoring Guidelines Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic

Important Updates to Note

April, 2020

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”. (Hebrews 10:25)

As the world around us grapples with the uncertainty, fear, and grief caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Christian institutions such as ours have been placed in a unique position in which we must make critical decisions on multiple platforms. YMM remains steadfast in our belief that God is our refuge and strength; and we are unwavering in our commitment to our divine calling to serve the underserved youth in our communities.

In order to ensure the safety of our children, members and volunteers, and to comply with the regulations set forth by our health authorities and our Government, we have adopted new Ministry guidelines.

What we are doing now:

  •  We have suspended our regular Saturday Mentoring program effective March 13, until further notice.
  •  On Thursday nights, we conduct a virtual Bible Study using the e-Share platform. This allows us to connect three different groups from three different venues.
  •  On Friday evenings, we meet virtually using the same platform described above.
  •  On Sundays, we meet in person, in a group of ten or less, at our Mentoring Centre. We have taken care to ensure that all prescribed hygiene and social distancing guidelines are followed during this meeting.
  •  Our landscaping and farming are conducted by selected mentees, in 4-hour increments, on alternating days.

What we plan to do going forward:

  •  Utilize the services of a Town crier to reach the children and families in the surrounding communities that we serve.
  •  Continue to prayerfully adjust our strategies as necessary to keep our children and families safe and spiritually fed during these challenging times.

What we ask you to do:

  • Continue to pray with us. In seasons such as these, fervent prayer is our best defense. Please pray for everyone in our communities; that they will remain physically safe, and free from fear. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” ( 2 Timothy 1:7)
  • Continue to support us virtually in any way you can.

You are in our prayers; may God continue to guide and protect you…
